Creations by C-Ray

Over the last year or so, I've decided to test out my creative side. Apparently, I'm kinda decent at it. So much so that I want to share it with all of you. I'm calling it Creations by C-Ray. I make fanart of pro wrestlers and fitness women, two things I'm extremely passionate about. At some point in 2017 (more details as I get things finalize) I will be adding fitness photography to the mix in addition to the fanart. But for now, my focus will be fanart only. The fanart is for fun, as I make no profit out of it whatsoever, nor will I ask for any donations to do this.

Here's a few examples of my work thus far:

I'm currently posting my work on DeviantArt (http://craychosen1.deviantart.com/), Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/creationsbycray/) Twitter (http://twitter.com/craycreations) and Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/creationsbycray/) In due time, I will have a website for all my work.

If you have any requests for any fanart (I don't do nudes or topless of any kind, FYI), email me at creationsbycray@gmail.com and I will do my best to make something special.

FAN CASTING: Jen Widerstrom as She-Hulk

All photos belong to their original owners. Please support them.

Unless you have lived under a rock, you have probably noticed that Hollywood has been bitten by the superhero bug. It started with Marvel about eight years ago with Iron Man, but when it first came out, we didn’t know what to expect. Since then, Marvel has become the kings of the superhero movie world, with no signs of slowing down anytime soon. While DC is making their own cinematic universe (and depending on who you ask, it’s either going decent, very well, or a complete disaster), Marvel has stood the test of time and will bring everything together that they have worked on for nearly a decade into Avengers: Infinity War which will come out in May 2018, with a film to follow that the following year. No doubt this will be a daunting task to bring everyone together, but if their success is any indication, it would be wise not to bet against Marvel Studios. In addition to the big boys, the ladies have been getting some love from Marvel as well, with Black Widow, Gamora, The Wasp, and Scarlett Witch being part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Captain Marvel will be joining them in the very near future (she will be the first female in the MCU to get her own solo movie). It’s a safe bet that more ladies will be joining them in the years to come, but there seems to be one sorta big name that has yet to be brought up…She-Hulk.

She-Hulk (Jennifer Walters) is the cousin of The Hulk (Bruce Banner). She’s insanely strong, but unlike her cousin, she has better control over her power and emotions. Due to the blood transfusion she had with her cousin, her green complexion is permanent, so she can’t change her appearance unlike her cousin. When she’s not kicking butt on the streets either on her own, with her cousin, or as an honorary member of the Fantastic Four, she is taking down people as her real-life persona Jennifer Walters, a lawyer. You would think someone would freak out about that, but really…would YOU question a green woman would can bench press a building…and consider that a warm-up?! I didn’t think so.

With all of this being said, I personally think She-Hulk would be a great superhero to introduce in the upcoming Avengers super movie. There’s this badass dude by the name of Thanos coming to Earth, and I think the world needs all the help it can get these days, especially with how things ended up after Captain America: Civil War. Now the question is…who could play as She-Hulk? While Hollywood has picked some beautiful women to play the part as female superheroes, they (to me) seemed to not represent the comic book physiques of the women they are portraying, which is the opposite of their male counterparts (as a whole, mind you. Not all the guys are big either, but it’s a noticeable amount). What makes She-Hulk so awesome is that she’s not only muscular, but she happens to be extremely beautiful as well. If you are part of the bodybuilding industry, I’m pretty sure you can send me a laundry list of women that would fit the bill of She-Hulk, but to me, there’s one woman who has a pretty big mainstream following that would be absolutely perfect for this role…Jen Widerstrom.

Jen Widerstrom is one of the trainers on NBC’s The Biggest Loser and was one of the Gladiators on the American Gladiators reboot on NBC. Her name on the show was Phoenix, and she was one of the most popular Gladiators on the show as well. When it comes to fitness, you name it, she’s done it…yoga, fitness competitions, Crossfit, Spartan Races, powerlifting, etc. Jen is stronger than the average woman, and she happened to be one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood as well. Of course beautiful women are not hard to find in the shining lights of Tinseltown, but in their world, it’s hard to find a beautiful woman with muscles to boot. Jen's also not a dummy either, as she hones her craft as a personal trainer by studying every fitness technique and regimen out there to be the best she can be, which is no different than what Jennifer Walters does while being a criminal defense attorney. Their personalities mirror each other as well; they are funny, quirky, and sassy, but when it gets down to business...they get down to business!

When you look at everything and see just how alike these two are, there's no reason why Jen Widerstrom should NOT at the very least be considered for the part of She-Hulk, if it's ever available, and if the MCU isn't the ideal place for She-Hulk, being on her own Netflix show or on a current Marvel Netflix show would work. I actually brought this up to her on Instagram the she (and former WWE Superstar Eve Torres-Grace, who would be a better Wonder Woman after much thought) would be great as She-Hulk, and she replied back to me, "Ahhhh thank you!!! I do love the color green!"

So there you have it. The ball is in your court, Marvel Studios and to you Mr. Kevin Feige. Jen Widerstrom has shown interest in being She-Hulk in the future. Others seems to agree. Hope to see this as a reality one day.

Dear Marvel,
Make. This. Happen!
Sincerely,
EVERYONE

It's Official: Deadpool IS Better than Batman v. Superman (In the U.S.)

This photo. Nuff. said.
Source: DeviantArt user GOXIII

I hate to sound like a buzzkill to DC fans (which I’m not, as I’m looking extremely forward to Suicide Squad and enjoyed The Dark Knight Trilogy a lot) or a Marvel fanboy (which I’m not), but WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED, DC?! SERIOUSLY!!!!

Two of the biggest movies of 2016, Deadpool from Marvel/21st Century Fox and Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice from DC/Warner Brothers, just ended their domestic run in the box offices. Without me saying a word, which movie do you think would have been the clear winner between the two. If you were to say BvS, you would be correct…in theory, for the simple reason that BvS has the two biggest names in comic books (Batman and Superman) in the same movie at the same time, with the addition of the on-screen debut of Wonder Woman (bringing the Trinity together). But in reality, that’s not what happened. Deadpool closed their domestic run with $363 million. Batman v Superman finished their run with $330 million. That’s right, you heard me a movie with a small budget domestically outdid what SHOULD have been the biggest movie in not just 2016, but in YEARS by about 33 MILLION DOLLARS. If I were DC/Warner Brothers, I would be concerned.

I went to see Deadpool and enjoyed it a lot. It stayed true to the Deadpool character and didn’t make things so complicated. Definitely not for kids, so parents, this is one superhero movie that you DON’T need to let your children see…not until they get older. On the flip side, I did NOT go see BvS for my own personal reasons (which started WAY before the critic backlash). I will not be comparing the movies as it would be comparing apples to oranges and hamburgers to pizza. I’m just trying to wrap my head around why BvS, despite the money it did make ($872,662,631 is the final total worldwide), didn’t do as well as it should have been based off brand name alone. Wait…I might have just answered my own question…Warner Brothers were hoping that the names that people grew up with (Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman) would be enough to get people to spend a lot, which they did…during opening weekend, which wasn’t a surprise. But then the critics came a-knocking and non-critics posted about it and the next weekend (while it did remain at the top of the box office) it plunged to a 50% drop in sales, the biggest two-weekend drop for any superhero movie ever. When you also have the embargo lifted literally a couple of days before the movie drops rather than a couple of weeks (which is the norm), that’s usually not a good sign. I mean, why would you wait so long to have the embargo lifted knowing that this was going to be a much-anticipated movie that people would like to spend the money on and actually FEEL like they are getting their monies worth? Another thing…there are some hardcore DC fanboys that are convinced that Marvel paid them off to publicly diss BvS. Yeah…so I guess they paid them to diss the Fantastic Four movie (which is a Marvel movie), then huh? Did they ever think that the critics were born members of the DC Universe and actually had to put their fandom aside and call the movie for what it is…a MESS (according to what I’ve read, not seen for myself)?! If a movie is good…it’s good. If it’s not so good…then guess what?! It’s not so good. Simple as that.

I’m not hear to give any advice to Warner Brothers on what they need to do to have a successful DC Cinematic Universe. Personally, I hope they do, but they need to make some serious internal changes. Like I stated before, a superhero movie that’s rated R (smaller demographic) and had a small budget did better in the states than a big-budget movie that’s rated PG-13 (bigger demographic) that featured the biggest superhero names of all time. That’s cause for pause to me. This can be fixed, though. They have movies lined up for the next few years that can change DC for the better (Suicide Squad later on this year, and Wonder Woman next year is a big one), but they need to understand the audience better and how to put on good superhero movies that bring EVERYONE together (adults and kids) or Marvel is going to remain the king of superhero movies for a long, long time.

My Captain America: Civil War Review

Source: ComicBookMovie.com

I went to see Captain America: Civil War over the weekend. This was the first Captain America movie I went to see in theaters, and I was hoping for a good movie after seeing the other two on television. What I got was one heck of a Marvel masterpiece. From start to finish, it was the best blend of action, drama, comedy, and suspense that I've seen in a superhero movie in quite some time. I enjoyed the Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron, but not like I did Civil War. This is (to me) easily the best Marvel Cinematic Universe movie to date, and has the potential of being THE best superhero movie in 2016, outdoing Deadpool (which I saw and enjoyed), Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice (which I didn't see nor will I plan to see, and if you have paid attention to my social media posts, you would know why), and the upcoming X-Men Apocalypse movie (which according to critics are getting mixed reviews). The only superhero movie this year that I THINK will outdo Civil War is Suicide Squad, but that's for another post.

I liked how every single superhero in the movie had their own agenda on why they sided with Captain America or Iron Man, who had their own agendas as well. You may or may not like everyone's agendas, but at least you understood what they were and it didn't seemed forced or put together to see what stuck. NO ONE would be crazy enough to do that, would they?!

WOULD THEY?!

Anywhos, sorry, back on topic. The introduction of Black Panther was awesome and by the end of the movie, they had my money for the solo Black Panther movie, which I feel is gonna be amazeballs. Now Spider-Man...OH MY GOODNESS. If you had ANY doubt about Tom Holland as Spider-Man, take those doubts and throw them out the window. Smash them, beat them with a bat, I don't care what you do with it. Tom IS the Spider-Man that the fans have wanted forever. The way he was introduced in the movie...you couldn't have done it better. The dialogue/witty banter between Stark and Parker is stuff of hilarity and legend. Civil War restored my faith in Spider-Man, and I have a gut feeling Spider-Man Homecoming is going to be stuff of legend when it comes out late next year.

The airport scene...the less I say about it, the better...because I can't put it in words how freaking epic it was. Not one trailer did it justice. You will have to catch your breath afterwards. If you hate that scene, you have no right to ever see a superhero movie again, and that's real.

You will feel conflicted from start to finish as to whose side you're on. You will never see any of these superheros the same way again. In some ways, you will question if they even ARE superheroes to begin with. The upcoming Avengers movies got much more intriguing thanks to Civil War because I don't know how they will mentally be able to recover from the events from Civil War.

According to the Merriam‑Webster dictionary, war means "a state of competition, conflict, or hostility between different people or groups" as well as "a sustained effort to deal with or end a particular unpleasant or undesirable situation or condition". Captain America: Civil War did just that and then some. This movie changed the MCU forever...and it will be interesting to see where everyone goes as the biggest battle in the form of Thanos awaits.

Captain America: Civil War is in theaters now.

A Bit About Savanna Read

On Tuesday, March 15, E! will be premiering a new series called “LA Clippers:  Dance Squad”, which will feature the Los Angeles Clippers Dance team. Based off the previews that have aired, one of the standouts looks to be Tennessee resident and a friend of mine and Bethel alumnus, Savanna Read.

I got to know Savanna through her time at Bethel University, when in 2011 she was part of the inaugural group of Rawr Cats, the name of Bethel’s dance team before it merged with the cheerleading group to create the Bethel Spirit Squad. Fast forward to today, she has made a successful transition from college dancer to a professional dancer and is now part of one of the top dancing teams in not just the National Basketball Association (NBA) but in all of sports. With her beauty, talent, and determination, there’s no telling how far Savanna will go in the Clippers Spirit team and beyond. In fact, former 3x WWE Divas Champion Eve Torres-Gracie got her start to fame as Clippers Spirit dancer. I’m not going to call Savanna the next WWE Divas Champion, but I would not be the least surprised to see her reach heights that even SHE didn’t think were possible.

I don’t work for E!, so I can’t tell you how Savanna will be portrayed in the show, but if her social media and my personal relationship are any indication, I can tell you that she is going to be one of the most entertaining parts of the show. It’s great to see someone you know do whatever it takes to make it to the top and do it the right way, and that’s exactly what you are going to get when you see Savanna’s journey as a LA Clippers Spirit dancer unfold for the world to see. Strap in, folks…you’re in for a treat!

For more on Savanna, check out her website at http://www.savannaread.com and follow her on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Youtube, as well as her LA Clippers Spirit page. And don’t forget to catch her on “LA Clippers: Dance Squad” Tuesday nights on E! at 10PM Eastern/9PM Central.

Top Five Kobe Bryant Games After the All-Star Break Before He Retires

As we all know by now, Kobe Bryant will be saying good-by to the world of basketball as earlier this season, he announced his retirement from the NBA. The fact that he made this announcement during this season saw many places have sell-out games (trust me, I know the feeling as I tried (and succeeded) to get a ticket to see him play the Grizzlies in the FedEx Forum for the last time) for the first time in years. Many final encounters have already taken place, but here are (to me) the top five final Kobe Bryant games before his career comes to an end at the conclusion of the 2015-2016 season.

5. Lakers vs Clippers, April 6th (Home)

The Battle of LA will never be the same after this final encounter against the Los Angeles Clippers. The Lakers will be considered the home team, but like most games have been thus far this season, practically everyone will be Kobe fans. It’s clear that the Clippers are the new Kings of Los Angeles when it comes to basketball, but I have a feeling that he will remind everyone that no matter what, he will always have a place on the throne with it comes to Los Angeles basketball loyalty.

4. Lakers vs Spurs February 19th (Home)

One final time…Kobe Bryant vs Tim Duncan. Kobe Bryant vs Tony Parker. Due to injury, we won’t get to see Kobe Bryant vs Manu Ginobili due to Manu’s injury. But do you see where I’m going with this? Those men I mentioned were part of an era of basketball that will be hard to duplicate, due to the rule changes in the NBA. The Spurs might be “old”, but they can put on a whooping that very few teams can do, especially during the 2nd half of the season. The first game for Kobe after the All-Star Break is definitely “End of an Era” material.

3. Lakers vs Warriors, March 6th (Home)

While I have the last two more of “end of an ear”, this one is “passing the torch”. Let’s be real, whether purists like it or not, Stephen Curry is becoming THE face of the NBA. He is leading the charge of a new generation of stars coming in. Curry is a potential Hall-of-Famer waiting to happen, while Kobe is an instant (forget first-ballot) shoo-in for the Basketball Hall of Fame. How cool would it be to see a “passing of the torch” moment during this last encounter between the past vs the future?

2. Lakers vs Cavaliers, March 10th (Home)

Kobe Bryant vs LeBron James, the match that we got a few times during All-Star Weekends and during the regular season but NEVER got in the playoffs. In my honest opinion, this was the biggest moneymaker that the NBA never had during playoff time. Imagine what could have been: The Black Mamba against the King in a potential 7-game slugfest to determine who would be crowned NBA World Champion. But it doesn’t mean their final encounter on March 10th in the Staples Center will be any less dramatic or emotional. Knowing them, I expect BOTH Kobe and LeBron to put on a show for the fans, with LeBron paying respect to Kobe on the court as everyone’s watching rather than wait until there are no cameras on.

1. Lakers vs Jazz, April 13th (Home)

I gotta be honest about this one…the SOLE reason that this made number one is because this is the season finale for the Lakers…and the career finale for Kobe Bryant. He will put on the #24 jersey for the final time in his career and no doubt there will be tears shed by practically everyone in the building when he heads to the bench for the final time. It would not surprise me one bit if this contest is televised nationally for the sole reason that Kobe will no longer be part of the NBA as an active competitor. Once the clock reaches zero on this game, the Kobe Bryant era will be officially done.

So there you go, that’s my list of the top five Kobe Bryant games to look forward to before he officially retires. What final game are YOU looking forward to? Has it already happened? Tweet me at C_Ray1710, or follow me on Facebook (yes, I decided to open up a Facebook page for my blog. https://www.facebook.com/crayscorner). You can also leave a comment below this post as well.

Cam Newton, The NFL's John Cena

DISCLAIMER: All photos used belong to their respective owners. Please support them

The 50th anniversary of “The Big Game” will be played in the next few days. This season, in the eyes of many, the most unlikely of teams will be representing the National Football Conference in the biggest game of the season: the Carolina Panthers. Their offensive and defensive lines gave practically every team they faced over their nearly perfect season trouble, but the biggest story coming out of Carolina if of their leader, quarterback Cam Newton.

Source: USA Today FTW

Many people, especially sports analysts, doubted that the Heisman Winner and National Champion would not be able to translate his success into the National Football League (NFL) for various reasons. Any and all doubt that they had has been put to shreds as Cam and the Panthers are now one win away from their very first football World Championship on the grandest stage in a few days.
Along the way, while Cam has gained quite the fanbase due to his excitement and dabbing (how that’s a dance, I’ll never know. LOL), it’s that same excitement that has made him hated by many people as well. He has yet to flat out target anyone in particular when he does his celebrations after a touchdown, but there’s a good deal of people that seem to not like that a lot. In fact, the hate picked up quite a bit when a Tennessee Titans fan wrote a letter to the Charlotte Observer, which you can read for yourself here: (http://www.charlotteobserver.com/opinion/article45163665.html). I’m sorry, I’m a Titans fan (don’t judge me), but that is nothing short of petty on her part. There was nothing provocative about his dancing whatsoever. He’s a good player that is having fun in the fan-described “No Fun League”.

Apparently, an Observer reader had a pretty good response to the Titans fan: http://www.charlotteobserver.com/opinion/article45222729.html. I mean, seriously, what harm has he done…except for harming the pride and egos of other teams that have tried to beat Carolina this season but failed (except for the Atlanta Falcons, whose one real bright spot this season was that they spoiled a perfect season for the Panthers). The more this season has progressed, the more polarizing Cam became. According to Cam himself in a press conference earlier this week, he said that there are those that are afraid of him because there’s no one else to compare him to (and oh yeah, there’s that whole “race” thing which I won’t get into here. THAT’S for another time) To a point…the man’s right.  Currently and in the past, there’s no one in the NFL that he can be compared to, but there IS someone in the sports and entertainment world that is almost the splitting image (personality-wise) that Cam CAN compare himself to…

AND HIS NAME IS…

Yes, THAT guy. The one with all those memes. (Cue Music)

Yes, I’m talking about the one and only John Cena from World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE).

Source: WWE

Unless you have been living under a rock, you know that John Cena for the better part of a decade and a half has been THE face of the sports-entertainment/pro wrestling company. Heck, he’s called himself “The Face the Runs the Place”, and you would be hard-pressed to find anyone that would say otherwise. Most people can tell you who John Cena is and they DON’T have to be WWE fans at all. Now what kind of person Cena is will depend on who you ask. For kids and young adults, he’s a guy who fights for what he believes in and never gives up. For most women, he’s a walking, talking Adonis. For most older males and Attitude Era fans (collectively known as the Internet Wrestling Community or IWC for short), he’s wrestling’s form of cancer who holds back their favorite independent wrestlers and Internet favorites from getting a fair shake in WWE. The dude is polarizing regardless of how one feels about him. No matter what, he’s going to get a reaction, mainly it’s mixed. But it’s never quiet. Fans are cheering like crazy or booing their heads off, depending on how they feel about Cena.

That is what Cam Newton has become in a sense. He has become the NFL’s John Cena. No matter what Cam does now, he gets a reaction, whether people want to see him succeed or fail. There’s no grey area with either guy. Both men are taking their professions by storm by doing it their way and not “by the book”, and you can’t help but be drawn to that either in a positive or a negative manner. Both of them have even been compared to arguably the top superhero of all time…Superman, due to their physical attributes for their professions. And as far as charity goes, you could not ask for better people to help others out in need, especially when it comes to children.

In the case of Newton, this just might be the best thing that could have happened to the NFL in years. Forget making a villain out of Cam. Let the fans choose for themselves how they want to perceive the Carolina Panthers quarterback. At the young age of 26, we are potentially looking at the new face of the NFL should he be able to defeat the leader of the old guard, “The Sherriff” and beloved automatic (forget first-ballot) Hall-of-Famer Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos on football’s biggest stage. Other teams will do everything they can to dethrone Carolina next year and in the seasons to come as they could potentially remain a top team for years to come if nothing changes drastically in the Panthers organization. The NFL will become better because they will have a new breed of measuring stick to surpass. One that will be loved and hated at the same time. One that no matter how much you try, you can’t take your eyes off of him.

AND HIS NAME IS CAM NEWTON!!!! (cue music)

Cam Newton is to the NFL as John Cena is to the WWE. Get used to it. This season is only the beginning
